If you’re wondering is Beijing worth visiting? The answer is absolutely YES. China’s capital is packed with history, culture, food, and iconic landmarks, making it one of the best places to visit in China. From ancient temples to lively shopping streets and unforgettable day trips, these are some of the top places to visit in Beijing for first-time visitors.

One important thing to know before visiting Beijing is that the Forbidden City (Palace Museum) requires advance booking. As one of the most popular tourist attractions in China, tickets often sell out quickly and can only be purchased through the official Palace Museum ticket website.

Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to secure tickets in time, which is why the Forbidden City isn’t included in this guide. That said, Beijing is filled with so many incredible places to visit that missing out on one attraction certainly doesn’t take away from the experience. If you find yourself in the same situation, don’t let it put you off as there’s still plenty to see, do, and explore across the city.

1. Summer Palace

One of the most beautiful places to see in Beijing, the Summer Palace is a peaceful escape from the busy city. Famous for Kunming Lake and the Long Corridor, it’s an ideal place to stroll, especially in spring or autumn. You can easily reach the Summer Palace by using Beijing’s extensive (and cheap) metro system. Expect traditional Chinese architecture and beautiful scenery but expect to see lots of crowds, especially in the summer months.

2. Temple of Heaven

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous places in Beijing, the Temple of Heaven offers a glimpse into imperial China. This was our favourite attraction in Beijing as the site is huge and the architecture is breathtaking. We’d recommend visiting as early as possible to avoid the crowds as you’ll want plenty of time to admire spots such as the Imperial Vault, Echo Wall and Hall of Prayer.

3. Mutianyu Great Wall (Day Trip)

No trip to Beijing is complete without seeing the wonder of the world located nearby. If you’re looking for the best places to visit near Beijing, Mutianyu is a clear winner. This section of the wall is less crowded than Badaling, and offers breathtaking views and an optional cable car. You can reach through the wall via a mix of public transport and taxis, however the quickest and easiest way is to book on to a pre-planned tour.

4. Dashilan Street

To experience the beating heart of Beijing you’re going to want to add Dashilan Street to your itinerary. It’s a popular street that blends traditional architecture with street food, souvenirs, and historic shops. If you’re wondering where to go in Beijing at night then Dashilan Street is definitely your answer.

5. Hongqiao (Pearl) Market

If shopping is on your list, Hongqiao Market is one of the best places to shop in Beijing. Famous for its pearls, electronics, and endless souvenirs, this huge multi-floor market is a must-visit – and yes, bargaining is expected.

We loved exploring Hongqiao and were genuinely shocked by just how cheap you can find almost anything imaginable. Entire floors are dedicated to electronics, jewellery, clothing, accessories, and more, making it easy to lose track of time. It’s one of the most popular places to go in Beijing for travellers looking to pick up gifts, affordable souvenirs, or tech at bargain prices.

What Else to Know Before Visiting Beijing

Beijing was our first destination in China. Even though we’ve now visited multiple times and explored many provinces, we still find that Beijing requires a bit more planning than other areas. It’s a huge city, which means attractions are spread out, hotel prices are higher, and your choice of location and budget can really shape your experience.

What to eat in Beijing

One of Beijing’s most famous dishes is Peking Duck. While exploring the city, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to try it. We recommend seeking out small restaurants down side streets rather than the main tourist areas — the food is just as delicious and much more affordable.

Like the rest of China, Beijing offers excellent food at great prices. Streets like Dashilan are perfect for sampling street food , so you’ll want to dedicate an evening to trying as many dishes as possible.

Where to Stay in Beijing

Choosing the right location matters. If your time is limited, pick a hotel close to at least one or two major sights. Booking in advance is a must, as hotels can get expensive during peak seasons.

Dongcheng – ideal for sightseeing and first-time visitors

Best Time to Visit Beijing

The best time to visit Beijing is spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October), when the weather is comfortable and skies are clearer.

We visited in the peak summer season, which was extremely hot. Summer also brings larger crowds at popular sites like the Great Wall and Forbidden City. However, there are perks: summer allows for later opening hours at the Great Wall, so you can experience it in the evening when it’s beautifully lit.

Bucharest – the Starting Point

Most trips, including ours, begin in Bucharest, a lively capital packed with things to see and do. If you only have a short time, we recommend saving Bucharest for a proper city break. If your main goal is to explore Romania by car, you’ll want to get out of the city quickly. The real beauty of Romania lies in its castles, small towns, and natural scenery.

Exploring Romania by Car

Now that you’ve ticked off Bucharest, you’ll probably be eager to get out and explore more of Romania. We decided to focus our trip on Transylvania, and honestly, there’s so much to see and do there that you could easily spend weeks.

A quick heads-up if you’re planning to drive: Bucharest traffic is pretty wild. The roads are hectic, drivers are fast, and accidents are fairly common. That’s why we’d strongly recommend hiring a car from a reputable company.

We found budget car hire in Romania for under £200 for a week – which we thought was a great deal. There are lots of cheap options but we decided to hire with Sixt – a reliable company with high-quality cars – and we had no problems. Castles in Romania: First Stops on Your Trip

Peles Castle was our first destination outside Bucharest. The castle is stunning from the outside. Sadly, we were too tired to go inside, but we’ve heard it’s even more impressive. Peles is close to Bucharest, making it a perfect first stop. If you prefer a slow start, stay nearby in Predeal. It’s a small town that’s ideally located between Peles Castle and Bran Castle.

Hotel Piemonte – affordable, clean, and close to local restaurants.

The next day, we headed to Bran Castle, famous for inspiring Dracula. It’s eerie and beautiful, especially on a misty, rainy day. We expected it to be overrated, but we really enjoyed our time. Wander the courtyards and consider hiring a guide or booking a tour to learn about the history. Arrive early to avoid the day-trip crowds from Bucharest.

Brasov – A Must-Visit City

From Bran Castle, it’s a short drive to Brasov, one of Transylvania’s gems. The old town is stunning, with cobbled streets, colorful buildings, and charming squares. You’ll find plenty of cafes, restaurants, and bars to explore. For views, hike up Tampa Mountain or climb the Council Tower. The food and cafe scene is Brasov is also great. We’d recommend heading to a small but unique cafe called News Caffe. You can sit outside (kind of) in their igloo style rooms that are cozy and the coffee is great too!

Romania’s Must See City: Sighișoara

Once you’ve explored Brașov, we recommend taking the scenic E60 road towards Sighișoara. If you’re short on time, you can drive directly to Sighișoara, but if you’d like to break up the journey, make a quick stop at Rupea Citadel. For a small entrance fee (around £3.00), you can wander through the restored fortress and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. From there it’s just a short drive on to Sighișoara – our favourite city in Romania and an absolute highlight of any Transylvania road trip.

Romania is full of hidden gems and picturesque medieval cities that easily rival destinations in France or Germany. What surprised us most was how beautiful and unique these towns are—and the fact that many travellers have never even heard of them before visiting.

When it comes to things to do in Sighisoara, our top tip is simple: take your time to wander the cobbled streets, soak up the colourful architecture, and enjoy the slower pace of this small city. For food, you’ll be spoilt for choice. We recommend Gasthaus Altepost, a cosy restaurant serving hearty traditional Romanian dishes in a warm, welcoming setting.

Where to Stay in Sighișoara:

For accommodation, we can’t recommend Casa Adalmo enough. This modern yet homely guesthouse is run by incredibly friendly locals, just a short walk from the old town. With private parking included, it’s a fantastic choice if you’re on a Romania road trip and want both comfort and convenience.

Hiking and a Natural Wonder of Romania

By this stage of our Romania road trip, we realised it was time to slowly start making our way back—meaning we had to skip a couple of spots we’d originally planned. If you have a little more time up your sleeve, though, take note: there are some fantastic places you might want to squeeze in that we, unfortunately, had to miss.

Our next destination was the small town of Turda, best known for its natural landscapes. Just outside the town lies Cheile Turzii (Turda Gorge), a spectacular limestone canyon that’s perfect for hiking. We can’t recommend this walk enough. The trail takes you right through the gorge, with dramatic cliffs on either side. The scenery is breathtaking, and we spent a few hours wandering, constantly stopping to look up and take it all in. The path is straightforward and well-marked, but do keep in mind that the rocks can be slippery in places. We’d recommend bringing some sturdy walking shoes or boots.

Sadly, this was the last major stop we had time for around this area. If you have more time then don’t miss a visit to the Turda Salt Mine (Salina Turda). This is one of Romania’s most unique underground attractions. And if you have half a day spare, consider heading to Cluj-Napoca, the unofficial capital of Transylvania. Here you’ll find a mix of historic architecture, buzzing cafes, and a student city vibe.

Sibiu: Transylvania’s Hidden Gem

If like us, you’re planning to pick up and drop off your car in Bucharest, we highly recommend heading back via the Transfăgărășan Highway. Famously named one of the best driving roads in the world by Top Gear, it’s an absolute must on any Romanian road trip. Before tackling the twists and turns of the Transfăgărășan, though, there’s another stop you shouldn’t miss—Sibiu.

Often described as one of Europe’s most underrated cities, Sibiu is a beautifully preserved destination known for its colourful squares, cobblestone streets, and distinct Germanic architecture. The city has a lively café culture too, with plenty of patisseries, wine bars, and cosy restaurants to choose from.

Its location also makes it the perfect overnight stop before driving the Transfăgărășan Highway. Spending a night here gives you the chance to explore Sibiu at a relaxed pace before continuing your Romanian adventure.

The Ultimate Driving Road (That We Couldn’t Drive)

After a week of driving around Romania, we were so excited to finally get onto the Transfăgărășan Highway. It’s been called one of the best driving roads in the world (even Top Gear said so), so it was right at the top of our list. The problem? If you visit outside of summer, like we did in March, most of the road is closed. A bit of a let-down, considering how long it had been on our bucket list.

Still, we decided to drive up as far as we could—and it turned out to be the best decision we made. On a misty day we reached the Bâlea Waterfall Visitor Centre, and to our surprise the cable car was running. We hadn’t seen another car on the way up, so this completely shocked us. We hopped on and headed up to Bâlea Lac, where the frozen lake and snow-covered mountains felt like a proper winter wonderland.

If you come earlier in the season you can even stay in the Ice Hotel, which sits right on the lake. There’s also a lodge at the top if you fancy a night beside the mountains. We stopped at the Bâlea Lac Chalet for a quick drink before heading back down—completely unprepared for snowy weather but glad we’d made the effort.

So yes, the Transfăgărășan is best driven in summer—but even in winter, it’s still well worth the trip.

Tips for Driving the Transfăgărășan Highway

What to pack: Even in summer, bring warm layers—the weather can change quickly in the mountains. In winter, proper boots and a decent coat are a must.

Season: The road is usually open late June to late October, but it depends on the snow. Always check conditions before you go and be careful of the bears. Romania has one of the largest bear populations in Europe (not accounting for Russia). If spotting a bear is on your bucket list then the Transfăgărășan Highway is one of the best places to see them in Summer.

Best time to visit: July and August offer the warmest weather, but September is quieter and still stunning.

Romania is one of those destinations that really is perfect for a road trip. Once you escape the hustle and bustle of Bucharest you’ll be greeted with plenty of beautiful destinations. China Travel Tips: A Practical Guide for First-Time Visitors to China

When we first planned our trip to China, we had a mix of excitement and nerves. We’d heard it could be tricky for tourists, that the language barrier would be a constant challenge, and that navigating the country’s transport and apps would be confusing. Truth be told, we weren’t quite sure what we were letting ourselves in for.

But from the moment we landed, China completely surprised us — in all the best ways. Wandering through Beijing’s historic streets, tasting food we’d never imagined, and hiking the jaw-dropping peaks of Zhangjiajie National Park, we were constantly reminded how much there is to discover. So, we’ve put together our top China travel tips to help make your first-time in China as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

1. Getting Around China Is Surprisingly Easy

We were expecting things to be a bit of a nightmare. It’s safe to say that most people feel this way because of the language barrier. However, travelling around China as first-time tourists was much easier than we thought. The transport system is really straightforward once you get used to it — and actually quite enjoyable.

The high-speed trains are clean, punctual, and affordable, letting you cover long distances in no time. One of our top travel tips for China is to know how and where to book the trains. We booked our trains through Trip.com and Klook, which made everything really simple. You can easily pick your seats, check timetables in English, and pay online without any fuss.

One thing to note: stations can get busy, so allow extra time for security checks and queues. We typically arrived at train stations 45-60 minutes early to ensure we had plenty of time. Before entering train stations you have to put your bags through scanners and present your ID (passport for non-citizens).

In the train station, you can easily find the right platform using the electronic boards that often display in English. Or you can check the train number, which is on your ticket if you book through Trip.com. To get onto the platform, you will need to show your ID again (as this is linked to your ticket). But once you’re on the move, it’s great. Travelling between cities and national parks felt far less stressful than we’d imagined. In the end, we even started to enjoy the journeys themselves.

Metro systems in cities like Beijing are also easy to navigate once you get the hang of the ticket machines. Most signs are in English, trains are frequent, and it’s usually pretty straightforward. Similar to the train stations, you will have to go through security to enter Metro stations and show your ID (passport), so we’d advise carrying it at all times in China.

Another easy way to get around China is by taxi. Taxis in China are surprisingly cheap, especially if you book them through China’s equivalent of Uber – DiDi.

2. Apps, Connectivity, and How to Get Around China

One of the biggest surprises for us as tourists was just how different travelling in China is if you rely on the apps we’re used to back home. Google Maps? Doesn’t work. But Apple Maps and AMaps are great. In fact, anything related to Google (including the Play Store) doesn’t work in China – so if you have a Google phone then make sure you have all the apps you need for China downloaded before you go.

We ended up using Alipay for almost everything — paying in shops, ordering food, and even booking taxis (through DiDi). You don’t need to be fluent in Mandarin but a few basics go a long way. You can also use WeChat if you prefer, but we found Alipay covered pretty much everything we needed for our first-time in China.

Once you’ve got your eSIM sorted and Alipay downloaded, paying for things, booking trains or taxis, and generally getting around becomes far less stressful. It’s actually quite satisfying once you start feeling like you’ve got the system sussed.

3. Chinese Food That Blew Our Minds

One of the highlights of travelling in China was the food! You’ll be surprised at how varied it is (and completely different to the takeaways back home).

In Pingyao, we tried the traditional copper hot pot. This was delicious and full of meat, noodles, and vegetables — the perfect meal after exploring the ancient town. In Xi’an, stir-fried king oyster mushrooms were simple but packed with flavour. And in Guangzhou, the cold meat fried rice was surprisingly tasty and satisfying.

Night markets are well worth checking out too. Iconic areas such as Dashilan Street in Beijing offered some of the best night markets we’ve ever visited!

4. Tourist Traps vs. Hidden Gems in China

When planning a trip to China, it’s very easy to get caught up in the big-name attractions. We found that most of them really are worth it, but others can be a bit over-hyped.

Take Zhangjiajie: the views in the national park are stunning, and Tianmen Mountain is impressive, but it was completely overwhelming. We ended up waiting six hours just to get back down the mountain, which was exhausting and a reminder that planning your timing carefully is key. The maps you get provided in the park can be really confusing, especially if it’s your first time there. The real highlight of China for us, though, was its ancient towns. Pingyao, in particular, was unforgettable. Walking around the old city walls, exploring the narrow streets, and soaking in the atmosphere felt like stepping back in time. In our experience the accommodation was ridiculously affordable too. Before we dive into why you should visit this area of Georgia – you might be wondering, what is the difference between Stepantsminda and Kazbegi? To cut a long story short – they are basically the same place! Stepantsminda is the official name of the last major town in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, but it was formerly known as Kazbegi. As a result, this town and this region are more commonly referred to as Kazbegi.

Why visit Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) in Georgia?

No trip to Georgia is complete without going to see the Caucasus mountain range! Whether you’re into hiking or not – Kazbegi is a great place visit in Georgia for incredible mountain views. We’re not mountaineers or even big hikers – but we wanted to head out of the city and into nature to be surrounded by the mountains and explore another side to Georgia. Mount Kazbek is part of the Caucasus mountain range, and the closest town is Stepantsminda. On a clear day you can see the peak of Mount Kazbek from the town. If you decide to stay for a night or two you may even be able to see the mountain range from your accommodation! We stayed in a lovely, modern cabin not far from the town centre and were lucky enough to get amazing mountain views. How to get to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) from Tbilisi

The journey to Kazbegi is another reason for visiting! And if you didn’t already know, Stepantsminda is the last major town before Russia. To get to Stepantsminda you will drive along the Georgian Military Highway. This is one of the most scenic roads in Georgia. However, it is also a major route between Georgia and Russia so expect to see a lot of lorries along the way. The drive from Tbilisi to Kazbegi takes around 3-4 hours. Get your camera ready for the last 20-30 minutes in particular, you’ll see the best mountain views!

There are 5 main ways to get to Stepantsminda. Here’s a breakdown, including pros and cons for each:

Marshrutka

The cheapest way to get to Kazbegi is by marshrutka. This is a shared minibus that costs 15 lari per person (approximately £4 / $5.50). If you have luggage then this costs an extra 5 lari. You will need to pay the driver directly with cash when you arrive. There is an ATM at the bus terminal but we’d recommend making sure you already have enough cash with you. We documented our experience getting a Marshrutka to Kazbegi here.

The marshrutkas to Kazbegi leave once every hour, on the hour, from Didube Bus Terminal in Tbilisi. However, if the minibus is already full then it will leave early so we’d recommend getting there at least half an hour before to secure a seat. Otherwise you will just have to wait for the next one. Another thing to know is that the exact location of the marshrutkas that go to Kazbegi is tucked away from the main road and can be quite confusing to find. When you go to Didube Bus Terminal there will be taxi / minivan drivers who will likely tell you that you can’t get a Marshrutka until later in the day – but this is a lie. Keep walking until you find the big sign that says Kazbegi and Stepantsminda – this might seem obvious but then you know you’re in the right place once!

Please note: Public transport (by marshrutka) in Georgia can be considered unsafe due to dangerous driving. We personally didn’t have this problem on our way from Tbilisi to Kazbegi. Our driver was great and drove the mountain roads really well. However, we have previously used marshrutkas to travel between other locations in Georgia and the driving was quite reckless at times. As a result, this method of transport is soon to be phased out and will no longer be available for long distances from January 2026

Shared Minivan

An alternative cost-effective way to get to Kazbegi is by minivan, which costs 40 lari per person (approximately £10 / $14). These shared minivans also depart from Didube Bus Terminal and can be a good option if you want to avoid the hassle of finding the marshrutkas. Travelling by minivan to Kazbegi is also more likely to give you more leg room and be slightly more comfortable, with fewer passengers than a marshrutka. However, we didn’t do this option so we can’t say for sure if this is worth the extra money or if the standard of driving is better.

You can also pre-book a shared minivan to Kazbegi.

Private transfer

The most comfortable way to reach Kazbegi from Tbilisi is definitely by private transfer. If you’re not on a budget, or are travelling as part of a bigger group, then booking a private car is the most convenient way to get to Kazbegi. This option may be more expensive but means you can travel hassle-free and with more peace of mind. Another benefit is that you can easily book a private transfer in advance to get from Tbilisi to Kazbegi.

Hire a car

If you want to have more freedom then another option is to hire a car and drive yourself. By getting a hire car you can stop along the way and take your time to enjoy the journey. Hiring a car also gives you the possibility to explore more of Kazbegi. There were times we wish we had done this due to the limited public transport. However, we would only recommend this if you are confident driving abroad!

Book a tour

Last, but not least, if you are short on time then a day trip is the best way to visit Kazbegi. You can easily book a tour from Tbilisi to Kazbegi that will take you into the mountains to visit all of the major sites. This can be a long day but worth it if you want to escape the city and see more of Georgia!

The Best Things to do in Kazbegi

Kazbegi is an adventure lovers dream. There’s so much to see and do in this area that we’d definitely return. Whether you’re looking for alpine hikes, want to visit a glacier or plan to see iconic churches, Kazbegi has all of this and more. Here are the best things to do in and around this mountain town.

1. Stay in the Heart of the Mountains

Kazbegi is all about the views, so where you stay makes a difference. Whether you choose a cozy guesthouse or splash your cash on a luxury hotel like Rooms Kazbegi, there’s options for every budget.

For a great mid-budget option, check out Kabegi Cottages. We loved our stay here as it was cozy, had great views and the room was super modern and clean.

For incredible food – don’t miss Samani. We had dinner here on multiple occasions because the food was so tasty. We definitely recommend the Adjarian Khachapuri – it was the best we had during our one month in Georgia. Also the views and service at Samani are 10/10!

2. Visit the Iconic Gergeti Trinity Church

You can’t come to Kazbegi without visiting Gergeti Trinity Church. Perched on a hill at 2,170 meters, with Mount Kazbek right behind it, this 14th-century church is one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks. You can hike up from Stepantsminda in about 1.5 hours, which is steep but rewarding, or take a 4WD taxi from the town centre in about 20 minutes if you’re short on time or energy. We decided to hike our way up and the views along the way are definitely worth the effort!

3. Visit Juta Valley

Juta is a tiny alpine village about 20 km from Stepantsminda and is your gateway to one of the region’s most stunning hikes. The trail from Juta to the foot of the Chaukhi Massif is relatively short (about 1–2 hours one way) and offers jagged peaks, wildflower-filled meadows, and even a charming mountain cafe.

How to get from Stepantsminda to Juta

The drive to Juta takes about 30–40 minutes as it’s fairly remote. The cheapest way to get there is via the shared shuttle run by Mountain Freaks. It departs twice a day (9:15 am and 11:15 am) from their office in Stepantsminda. The shuttle then returns in the evening, giving you ample time to explore. This is very popular so make sure to pre-book during the peak season in summer!

Alternatively, you can hire a private taxi from the town centre – this should cost 140 Lari for a return trip. You should also be able to arrange transport through your guesthouse.

4. Go Hiking!

Kazbegi is a hiker’s paradise. Beyond the Gergeti and Juta trails, there are treks to waterfalls, hidden valleys, and even overnight routes into the Greater Caucasus. One standout is the hike to the Gergeti Glacier – a challenging yet breathtaking trek for experienced hikers.

Should You Visit Kazbegi?

Kazbegi really is one of Georgia’s most beautiful areas and in our opinion it’s a must visit destination in Georgia. It’s ideally located only a few hours from Tbilisi making it the perfect getaway. If you are planning a city break to Tbilisi or you’re travelling around Georgia – don’t skip Kazbegi!

If you have limited time then we would recommend doing a day trip to Kazbegi. You can easily book a day trip to Kazbegi here. However, if you have more time then definitely book an overnight stay. We did not regret it!

If you plan to visit Georgia, there’s no doubt you’ve got Kutaisi on your mind. Some of the best things to do in Georgia are easily reached from here. It’s also a great place to experience true Georgian culture, with plenty of traditional restaurants to try. The city itself is charming, and if you take a day trip like we did, you can visit amazing spots like Martvili Canyon, Okatse Canyon, and Prometheus Cave. Our recent trip with GetYourGuide took us to some of the most beautiful natural areas around Kutaisi, and we’re going to talk you through why each is well worth the visit.

Why Visit Kutaisi?

Kutaisi is charming, authentic, and only three hours from Tbilisi. It’s also a few hours from Batumi, making it easy to reach some of the best places across Georgia. With airlines like Wizz Air now flying directly to Kutaisi, it’s perfect for a short getaway. You can spend a day here sampling traditional dishes (like khachapuri and khinkali) and wandering its scenic streets and unique architecture. Kutaisi also has stunning cathedrals like Bagrati, surrounded by breathtaking views of the countryside. We also noticed art dotted across the city, adding to its authentic charm.

If you’re looking for Georgia’s laid-back and authentic city, this is the place for you.

In our opinion, though, the best things to do in Kutaisi are outside the city. Martvili Canyon, Okatse Canyon, and Prometheus Cave are stunning natural spots, all accessible from here. So if you’re looking to visit the best places from Kutaisi – we’ve got you covered!

Cave and Canyons Trip from Kutaisi

If you’re more into nature than cities, like us, you’ll love this trip. We booked a day tour with GetYourGuide (linked here) because we had limited time and wanted to make the most of it. This day trip takes you to Martvili Canyon, Okatse Canyon, and Prometheus Cave. These places are all worth visiting – but don’t be fooled, they’re quite spread out. While it’s technically possible to reach them by public transport, we wouldn’t recommend it (we’ll explain why later). A full-day Canyons and Cave tour is by far the easiest option. It’s affordable and a great way to visit Kutaisi’s best spots in one go.

The trip starts around 10 AM and returns to Kutaisi by 6 PM. It costs around £16 per person and includes all of your transport. The sites are far apart and require a fair bit of driving, but trust us, it’s worth it. Our tour was in a 16-seater minibus and included a guide who gave us tips at each location. Just note: entrance fees to the canyons and cave are not included. More on that below.

Martvili Canyon

One of the best spots in area is definitely Martvili Canyon. We took a short boat ride through the canyon which is definitely the highlight. The water is an incredible shade of blue and it almost looks fake it’s that pretty. You know the type of blue that you see on the front of travel magazines? Expect that but it’s not edited. You can also wander around and check out waterfalls from walkways and viewing platforms. The entrance fee is 20 GEL, and the boat ride is another 20 GEL. It’s a short ride, but completely worth it. It’s peaceful and extremely photogenic. Martvili Canyon really exceeded our expectations and is a must visit place in Georgia. It’s also the first stop on the GetYourGuide tour we did and one we highly recommend.

Okatse Canyon

The next place we recommend visiting from Kutaisi is Okatse Canyon. If you do the same trip as us this will be your second stop. It’s completely different from Martivili Canyon but equally as impressive. A quick note before you visit though… If you’re afraid of heights maybe this one is not for you. Expect to walk along a 700m suspended walkway with views of the canyon from above. The canyon costs another 20 Georgian Lari to enter and from the entrance it’s either a 2.3km walk to the suspension bridge or you can pay a small fee to get a jeep to drive you. We opted for the jeep and it’s likely that if you do the tour you will too (due to time restrictions). if you decide to visit Okatse without a day trip then there’s multiple walks that you can do around this area.

Although Martvili and Okatse are both canyons, they are completely different so don’t worry about being ‘canyoned out’ if you plan to see both in one day.

Prometheus Cave

The final stop on our trip and another amazing thing to do from Kutaisi is to Prometheus Cave. This is actually Georgia’s largest cave and it’s very impressive. It’s huge inside and is full of incredible rock formations. The inside is lit up by colourful lights and you walk along a paved pathway that allows you to admire the many stalagmites and stalactites. To enter Prometheus Cave you’ll again have to pay 20 Georgian Lari (it seems to be the going rate for entry fees in this area). If we’re honest this was the stop we were least excited about. We’ve visited a lot of caves recently and they all seem to look very similar. However, we actually really enjoyed it as it’s extremely hard to not be impressed by the huge chambers and rock formations.

Alternative Ways to Visit (From Kutaisi)

Okay so now you know the best things to do from Kutaisi, let’s talk about other ways to reach them. We originally wanted to only do one of the canyons – Okatse. After reading online it was entirely possible to get public transport to Okatse and just do the one spot. However, even just reaching one canyon via Marshrutka (local minibus) looked like a lot of effort. Some quick reading online led us to the conclusion that you either have to get multiple buses or you have to do a lot of walking to reach any of the options we’ve stated above. That’s why we would recommend doing a tour. Not only does it make your life a lot easier but you’ll also see multiple places in less time.

We’re so glad we did a tour because otherwise we’d have missed out on the incredible boat trip through Martvili Canyon or the impressive walk through Prometheus Cave.

If tours really aren’t your thing then the next best option would be to hire a car and drive to each of the spots. We love hiring a car and exploring at our own pace and it would be a great way to spend longer at each location. You can find rental cars for Kutaisi here. Before you jump ahead and book a rental car though, it’s worth knowing that Georgians can be CRAZY drivers. Make sure you’re confident and comfortable before you make the decision to hire a car.

Final Thoughts

Kutaisi really is a great place to visit and by visiting the canyons and cave in Western Georgia you’ll get a good feel for what the country has to offer. If you plan to visit Kutaisi for a few days then we would highly recommend the day trip to Martivili Canyon, Okatse Canyon and Prometheus Cave. In total you’ll spend around £40 per person for transport, entry and an additional boat trip. You get to visit three iconic spots in Georgia and don’t have to worry about getting multiple buses or walking miles to reach each spot. If you have much longer to spare then making your own way to each spot would give you longer to make the most of hiking in the area.

It really is such a beautiful part of Georgia and honestly, we could spend months in Georgia and still feel as if we need more time.

Most people try and visit Mt Fuji from Tokyo by doing a day trip which will take you to multiple spots before heading back to Tokyo. However, we decided to stay overnight in the beautiful town of Fujikawaguchiko. This turned out to be one of the best decisions we made in Japan! In this post we’ll be giving you our top tips for an overnight Mt Fuji stay from Tokyo! These tips will include how to book transport, where to stay and how to make the most out of your time in Fujikawaguchiko!

Allow Ample Time to Fully Experience Mt Fuji

Japan was a whirlwind! It’s one of those destinations that can really take its toll as you’re constantly on the move, hopping from iconic sight to iconic sight. However, the one place we visited on our first trip to Japan where we didn’t feel this way was Fujikawaguchiko. This town had such a calming, relaxing atmosphere as we were surrounded by beautiful nature. It really is a total contrast from Tokyo, only a couple of hours away. That’s why one of the best decisions we made on our recent trip was to give ourselves a couple of days to really soak in this amazing atmosphere. In fact, we’d go as far as saying that doing an overnight trip to Mt Fuji was one of the best things we did in Japan.

Don’t worry – we understand that most people visiting Japan (including us) have limited time and budgets, so adding a couple of days can feel like too much. Hear us out: most people do a day trip to Mt Fuji, usually booked with a tour company. These are great if you’re pressed for time and want an easy way to see one of Japan’s most iconic sights. However, if seeing Mount Fuji really is at the top of your bucket list, one thing that’s important to know is that by giving yourself two days (or more) and staying overnight, you massively improve your chances of actually seeing it!

Take our trip, for example – we visited at the start of December, one of the best times to visit Mount Fuji. On the day we arrived, visibility was perfect. But the next day, when we’d planned to hit the best photo spots in the area, the weather wasn’t half as good. We won’t complain, because the clouds did clear, but the point is that the weather here is so unpredictable that by giving yourself two days, you can massively increase your odds of getting some incredible views. Think of it like a safari – you’d do multiple game drives to boost your chances of seeing wildlife, right?

Also, there are amazing walks, cafés, and restaurants around Lake Kawaguchiko (many with stunning views). So even if the weather isn’t on your side, it’s worth escaping from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities. You can soak in an onsen or take a stroll through Japan’s breathtaking nature.

Secure Your Stay by Booking in Advance

If you’re planning a trip to Mt Fuji from Tokyo, don’t leave it to the last minute like we did.

Accommodation in Fujikawaguchiko fills up fast as it’s popular with both foreign and local tourists. So our advice is to book early. Luckily, we managed to find an absolute win of a hotel right next to Lake Kawaguchiko (you can book it here) – we’d highly recommend it. It literally had only one room left and was one of the few options in our budget range. If you know you want to do an overnight trip from Tokyo to Mt Fuji, take our advice and reserve early.

We also checked a few Airbnbs for other dates – there are some really beautiful stays, but they get booked up weeks in advance. When searching for accommodation, we’d suggest Airbnb, Booking.com, or Trip.com. And if a hotel with an onsen is on your wishlist, you can’t beat the one where we stayed: its public onsen even welcomes tattooed guests – a huge bonus for us as Callum has multiple tattoos.

Rise Early for Crowd-Free Mt Fuji Photos

If you really want to get the most out of your stay in Fujikawaguchiko, you’re going to want to get up early. Think about it: most people do a day trip from Tokyo to Mt Fuji and don’t arrive until 10am or later. That gives you the perfect window to visit the Instagram-famous Lawson’s, Arakurayama Sengen Park (the iconic pagoda shot), and the picturesque Lake Kawaguchiko before the crowds turn up. Get up nice and early and you’ll have these spots almost to yourself – or at least with fewer day-trippers from Tokyo to contend with. Bonus tip: Hire a car to save time and hassle!

One of our biggest regrets in Japan was not having a car at our disposal. Most of the trains and buses do reach many of Fujikawaguchiko’s top spots. However it’s important to know that services can be infrequent and every wasted minute waiting around for public transport is valuable time you could be using to explore. Sadly, our International Driving Permit ran out before our trip – oops! You can also reach even more destinations around Fujikawaguchiko that are otherwise a nightmare to reach or cost a lot if you get a taxi. Given the choice we would definitely book a rental car if we returned in the future. Just remember to get an IDP before your trip!

Book Your Overnight Mt Fuji Trip in Advance

Fortunately, booking transport from Tokyo to Mt Fuji couldn’t be easier. You can reserve your tickets here (use code TWOBRITSONTHEGO for 10% off transport and even activities Japan like Visiting teamLAB Planets).

The tricky part of an overnight stay in Fujikawaguchiko is sorting out your onward travel. We spent ages searching for a direct service from Kawaguchiko to Osaka or Kyoto. Unfortunately we only found an overnight bus – which books out fast. It also wasn’t ideal in our situation as we’d already booked in our hotels for both Kyoto and Osaka. There may be other options, but when we looked, this was the only direct route.

Thankfully, there’s a reliable workaround. You can book a return ticket from Kawaguchiko back to Tokyo, then hop on the Shinkansen to Kyoto or Osaka. At first, retracing our steps felt like a massive waste of time, but then you realise you’re in Japan and the bullet trains are ridiculously fast. So you can leave Kawaguchiko in the morning and arrive in Kyoto well in time for some ramen. Just be sure to allow plenty of buffer time between your bus and the bullet train departure. Trains can be costly and missing it would be an expensive mistake!

Why Visit Veliko Tarnovo?

Veliko Tarnovo is one of those places that once you’ve visited it’s difficult to understand why you’d never even heard of it before. It’s one of Bulgaria’s oldest cities (Plovdiv is the oldest) and still has a lot of its old world charm. From the picturesque Tsaravets fortress to the traditional restaurants that line the cobbled streets, Veliko Tarnovo is the perfect destination to escape for a couple of days.

How to Reach Veliko Tarnovo?

Now that you know why Veliko Tarnovo deserves a spot on your bucket list, here’s how to get there (on a budget)!

We included Veliko Tarnovo as part of our larger overland trip from Romania to Central Asia. If you’re coming from Romania like we did, it’s actually pretty easy to reach from Bucharest. The Bulgarian train network is good, and you can catch a train to reach Veliko Tarnovo.

The closest train station to Veliko Tarnovo is Gorna Oryahovitsa, just a 15-minute drive away. From Gorna Oryahovitsa, you can grab a bus or a taxi into the old town of Veliko Tarnovo— we decided to take a taxi which only cost 15 LEV (£6.45).

Want to follow our route from Bucharest? First take a train to Ruse (just across the Bulgarian border), then change and take a train to Gorna Oryahovitsa which is close to Veliko Tarnovo. This can easily be achieved in one day.

Here’s a quick price breakdown:

Bucharest to Ruse: Approx 5.5 LEV (£3), around 2 hours 40 minutes by train
Ruse to Gorna Oryahovitsa: Approx 7 LEV (£3.80), around 2 hours by train

You can also reach Veliko Tarnovo from Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital city:

Sofia to Gorna Oryahovitsa: Approx 15 LEV (£6.35), around 4 hours by train

You can book trains at the station in Bulgaria or online – to book in advance you can easily buy train tickets with 12GoAsia here.

Bulgarian and Romanian trains are great value so we’d recommend using them to keep costs low if you’re travelling through either of these countries. We actually used the trains all the way to Istanbul on this trip – so we can definitely vouch for how reliable (and budget-friendly) they are!

Budget Accommodation

Veliko Tarnovo is a small and walkable city, and chances are you’ll want to stay right in the heart of the Old Town. This is where you’ll find all the charm, beautiful cobbled streets, and lots of restaurants and cafés. It’s also super close to Tsarevets Fortress, which is one of the top places to visit in Veliko Tarnovo.

We stayed in a beautiful but budget-friendly boutique guesthouse tucked right in the middle of it all. Our room was only £32 per night, and for that price and location, it felt like an absolute bargain.

If you’re on an even tighter budget, there are a few hostels in Veliko Tarnovo too, such as Hostel Mostel and Rooster Hostel.

What To See & Do in Veliko Tarnovo

Honestly, Veliko Tarnovo isn’t a big place—but it’s one of those destinations where it’s more about the feeling than ticking off a list of sights. That’s what made us love it so much. However, some of the main places to visit include:

Tsarevets Fortress

This is the most iconic spot in Veliko Tarnovo. It’s on old fortress from when Veliko Tarnovo was the capital of the Bulgarian empire and it’s the perfect place to take a walk along the fortress walls or head up to the top and see the church that overlooks the rolling hills. The entry fee is 15 Bulgarian LEV or £6.50 but it’s worth it just for the views!

Something we missed (due to the dates but wish we could’ve done) was the Sound and Light Show at Tsarevets Fortress. They run it pretty regularly and it looks so cool—music, lights, and the whole fortress lit up at night. It’s meant to be such a good evening activity if you’re in Veliko Tarnovo. Samovodska Charshia (Crafts Street)

This little street is full of charm! You’ll find locals making pottery, woodwork, and all sorts of handmade goods.

Assen Dynasty Monument

This monument from the Assen Dynasty shows four horsemen who played a huge role in the second Bulgarian Empire and for making Veliko Tarnovo the centre of this empire. The monument is really impressive, and its location is beautiful. It offers stunning views over the river, as well as a panoramic view looking up towards Veliko Tarnovo.

Art Galleries & Museums

If you’re into art and museums, there are a few around the Old Town and near the monument. We’ll be honest though—it’s not really our thing. So we skipped them and spent more time doing what we do love: eating great food and hunting down good coffee.

Where to Eat & Drink

Okay, so this was hands down our favourite part of Veliko Tarnovo — the food here was SO good. The city has plenty of old-school tavern-style restaurants, some more popular than others, but honestly, nearly every meal we had was incredible.

Here are some places we loved, along with (a rough idea of) what they cost us to give you an idea:

Shtastliveca

Pronouncing this one was a bit of a nightmare for us—if you want a laugh, check out our YouTube video where we try to say it! But seriously, this place was one of the best meals we had in Bulgaria. It has over 12,000 reviews and a solid 4.6-star rating, and we can confirm it absolutely deserves that. The views from the restaurant are stunning, the food was outstanding, and it didn’t cost a fortune. We spent about £30 for two meals and two beers, which is a steal for such quality and atmosphere.

Rich

Another place we highly recommend is Rich, run by a lovely Bulgarian couple. It’s a tiny spot with only about six tables (more in summer) and a balcony overlooking the river. The food here was lovely—we tried classic Bulgarian dishes like Shopska Salad and Kavarma. Two meals, a salad, and two beers came to just £20. So you definitely don’t have to be Rich to visit… (terrible pun we know – blame Callum he couldn’t resist).

Local Bakery (Закуски банички милинки)

To save money on breakfast or lunch, we hit up a local bakery almost every day. Banitsa, a traditional Bulgarian pastry filled with white cheese, quickly became an obsession. We probably had one every morning during our whole trip! The small hole in the wall bakery that we loved only charged £1.50 each, and honestly, these were the best banitsas we had in Bulgaria. Samurai Coffee

If you’re a coffee lover, Samurai Coffee is the spot. It’s one of the only places serving specialty coffee in Veliko Tarnovo, and it’s got a nice outdoor seating area. On a warm day, it’s the perfect chill spot to enjoy a really good cup of coffee with views of the city.

So, Is Veliko Tarnovo Worth It? (Yes, 100%)

Hopefully, this gives you a good idea of what to expect from Veliko Tarnovo—and shows that it’s a really affordable place to visit without skimping on charm or great food. We honestly think it’s the perfect spot for a weekend getaway or a stop-off on a bigger Eastern Europe trip.

Looking back at our budget, it’s totally doable to stay in a nice private room, grab breakfast from a local bakery, explore the main sights, and enjoy your meals in high-quality restaurants—all for as little as £35–£50 per person, per day. Most of the sightseeing is free, the food is reasonably priced, and there are loads of great value accommodation options.

A Guide to Crossing the Border Between Turkey and Georgia

Border crossings can be confusing—especially when there’s little information online. During our overland trip from Romania to the Stans, we travelled across the length of Turkey with the goal of crossing the border into Georgia to reach Batumi. We planned to use the Sarp border crossing, but with so many unknowns, it was hard to figure out the best way to do it.

Now that we’ve done it, we want to share our experience of crossing from Turkey to Batumi—and our tips on crossing the border between Turkey and Georgia without stress.

Which Border Crossing to Use?

Crossing the border from Turkey to Georgia (or the other way around) is a popular route for travellers heading into the Caucasus. Our journey started in Istanbul and took us across the country using Turkey’s bus and train network to reach Cappadocia. That part was easy.

Things changed after Cappadocia. Transport options became less frequent, and after Erzurum, bigger cities were few and far between. Turkey is huge—and when you’re heading for the Sarp border crossing in the far east, the bus journeys can start to feel long.

The Sarp border crossing is the most popular way to cross between Turkey and Georgia. There are other options, but Sarp is the busiest, most efficient, and best connected. Public transport runs regularly on both sides.

We expected crossing the border between Turkey and Georgia to be stressful. But it turned out to be simple. If you know how to cross the Turkey-Georgia border and what to expect, it’s an easy process. Which is exactly why we wrote this guide—to help make your journey just as smooth as ours!

Getting to the Sarp Border Crossing

Now that we’ve covered which border crossing to use, let’s talk about how to get to the Sarp border crossing. We used a local bus company in Erzurum, which we highly recommend. They run connections to towns along Turkey’s Black Sea coast, making it easy to get to (or from) Hopa near the Sarp border. You can use them to go between major cities like Erzurum, or coastal spots like Rize and Trabzon. It’s a reliable and affordable way to travel to the border.

We booked our journey with Yesil Artvin Ekspres, a local bus company based in Erzurum. You can book tickets online or directly at the Erzurum bus station. We actually met a super friendly staff member there. He not only helped us book our ticket for the next day but also drove us to our hotel and gave us a quick tour of Erzurum! Just another reminder that Turkish hospitality is the BEST!

If you’re looking for a bus from Erzurum to the Sarp border crossing, this company is a great option. They also run routes to other Black Sea destinations like Rize and Trabzon, making it easy to reach the border or vice versa. They’ll drop you off in the border town of Hopa. In our opinion Hopa isn’t really worth spending much time at. It’s quite a busy town along the Black Sea coast with lots of bazaars and places to eat.

Crossing the border between Turkey and Georgia

Once you’ve reached Hopa in Turkey, you’ll need to make your way to Sarp. This is where the border crossing is located. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Hopa, and it’s the last Turkish town before entering Georgia. The best and cheapest way to do this is via a Dolmus which is a shared minibus. These buses leave when they are full but they are extremely cost efficient and only set us back 60 Turkish Lira each (which is about £1.20).

You’ll find the Dolmus vans lined up just outside Hotel Cihan in Hopa. Once you’ve paid the driver and the van is full, it’ll take you straight to the land border crossing between Turkey and Georgia at Sarp.

You can also take a taxi to the Sarp border but it’ll cost a lot more. You’re much better off with the cheap and reliable bus service (unless you’re pressed for time).

Getting to Batumi!

Once you arrive at the border, just follow the signs. Before you know it, you’ll be in Georgia. Our crossing was quick and efficient—less than 20 minutes. We crossed the border in April but bear in mind that the border is likely to be busier in the summer months.

After clearing the Turkish checkpoint, you’ll find places to exchange currency. We highly recommend exchanging money here, as you’ll need cash to catch a minibus to Batumi and other destinations in Georgia.

Just like you can catch a Dolmus to the border on the Turkish side, you can take a Marshrutka (the Georgian equivalent) from Sarpi to Batumi. The journey costs just 2 Georgian Lari (around £0.55), takes about 20 minutes, and leaves once the van is full. It’s the easiest and cheapest way to reach Batumi from the Georgia border. Just tell the driver where to stop—and that’s it, you’re in Georgia!

Our thoughts on crossing the border between Turkey and Georgia

Originally, we thought crossing the border between Turkey and Georgia would be a nightmare. But it actually turned out to be pretty straightforward. Thankfully, we used a reliable bus company to get us to Hopa, and once there, the locals were incredibly friendly—pointing us straight to the Dolmus heading for the border. If you’re well-prepared and know what to expect, crossing the border between Turkey and Georgia is smooth and stress-free—and the bus to Batumi is just as easy.

We recently visited Istanbul, and overnight it became one of our all-time favourite cities. After full-time travelling the world for the past two years, we’ve experienced a lot—but Istanbul truly stands out. One of the reasons we fell in love with it is because there are just so many incredible things to do in Istanbul. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, this city is packed with unforgettable experiences.

We’d go back to Istanbul in a heartbeat and honestly can’t recommend it enough. If you’re planning a trip (or even just thinking about it), definitely go. And when you do, here are our top 5 things to do in Istanbul that you won’t want to miss.

1) Soak in the Stunning Architecture

Istanbul is easily one of the most iconic cities in the world. Its history runs deep—once the heart of the Byzantine Empire and later the powerful Ottoman Empire. That mix of cultures over the centuries has shaped the city into a unique blend of European and Asian influences, and you can feel it everywhere—from the architecture and food to the atmosphere in the streets.

You don’t have to go far in Istanbul to come across amazing architecture. You’ve probably already seen photos of some of the city’s most iconic landmarks—like the Hagia Sophia (a former church turned mosque) and the stunning Blue Mosque. But seeing them in person is a whole different experience.

The Sultanahmet area is packed with beautiful buildings all in one spot. There’s the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, and Topkapi Palace—making it perfect for wandering around, soaking up the old-world charm, and admiring the historic architecture.

But it’s not just Sultanahmet. You’ll also find gems like the New Mosque (Yeni Cami)—called “new” because it was built in 1665, which is practically new by Istanbul standards. Then there’s the Galata Tower, a Genoese landmark in a different part of the city, offering panoramic views of Istanbul’s skyline.

Most tourists tend to stay in the Sultanahmet area since it’s super close to all the major attractions. That’s exactly what we did, and if you’re planning a trip to Istanbul and want a budget-friendly private room (with a shared bathroom), we recommend staying here.

2) Experience an Istanbul Food Tour!

One of the best things to do in Istanbul is pretty much eating your way through the city. The best way to experience this is by joining a guided food tour, which takes you straight to the tastiest spots and hidden gems the city has to offer. Istanbul has so many amazing restaurants, street food vendors and tasty local dishes. If you’re a huge foodie like us then you’ll love Istanbul.

We tried everything—from Midye Dolma (stuffed mussels) to an authentic Turkish breakfast, which is an absolute must. You can even visit the original spot where Iskender kebab was invented, and honestly, words can’t do justice to how tasty that meal was. From rich baklava and sweet Turkish delight to hearty soups and mouthwatering kebabs, Istanbul genuinely has it all.

3) Visit the Colourful Area of Balat!

Another top thing to do on your first trip to Istanbul is to explore the vibrant neighborhood of Balat. This area sits on the European side of the city (yes, Istanbul actually has two sides—but more on that later). Once a historic Jewish quarter, Balat is now a colorful mix of cultures. While it’s less touristy than Sultanahmet, it’s still well-known for its brightly painted houses and amazing cafe scene.

First up, you’ll want to check out those colourful houses. You’ll probably see plenty of people lining up to get photos—they really are Instagram-worthy. After that, take some time to wander through the many cafes that dot the streets just a few minutes’ walk away. We loved the peaceful vibe here and found a spot to relax with a coffee—often joined by one of Istanbul’s famous (and seemingly countless) street cats.

4) Visit Two Continents in One Day!

We mentioned earlier that Istanbul has two sides, and honestly, that’s what makes this city so fascinating. It literally sits on two continents: Europe and Asia. You can spend the day wandering around the incredible architecture on the European side, then hop across the Bosphorus to explore the Asian side—all in the same day.

In our experience, both sides have totally different vibes. The European side feels more polished and picturesque, while the Asian side is more authentic, lively, and a bit less touristy. Plus, it’s way cheaper—mainly because most tourists stick to the European side.

Getting between the two is easy and affordable, too. Public transport costs less than £1 to cross from one side to the other. We didn’t get the chance, but you can also take a Bosphorus cruise to see Istanbul’s main sights from the water, which we’ve heard is an amazing way to experience the city.

5) Visit the Spice Market & Grand Bazaar

Finally, no trip to Istanbul is complete without visiting the lively Grand Bazaar and Spice Market. Luckily, our guided food tour included a visit to the Spice Market. That meant we got to experience it in the best way possible—free tastings with no pressure to buy. Perfect!

Istanbul became a major centre for spice trading thanks to its strategic location. Many of these spices arrived via the Silk Road—right along the route our journey is following. We’re actually setting off from Istanbul all the way to Central Asia and China. If you’ve not already, we’d love for you to join our community as we share stories from the road.

The Grand Bazaar is another must-visit. We expected it to be crazy busy, but surprisingly, it’s so big that you can explore without feeling overwhelmed. One thing that blew us away was the sheer amount of gold on display—it honestly felt like something out of a movie. You’ll also find small tea shops selling delicious fruit-flavoured teas. They’re perfect spots to sit, relax, and soak in the atmosphere.
